Rangkshetra: Artist of the day- Aarthi Goyal

By | Superheroes with Ink, Uncategorized | No Comments

Welcome back guys to our Rangkshetra series, today we are bringing you a story of a beautiful and talented artist Aarthi Goyal, during her MBA days she started to work on her art and right from the start she knew where she finds peace.

So let’s hear it from Aarthi about her journey in the field of art!

1. Tell us something about yourself. Hello, I’m Aarthi Goyal, a surrealist at heart with an experimental mind. I’m a full-time artist living in Chennai and I’m currently pursuing resin as a medium to create unique, abstract pieces of art that include tableware such as artisanal Coasters, Trays, Cheese Platters, Bowls and furniture such as side tables, centerpieces etc. I wanted to make art that could also be used every day, possibly influence the moods and energies of people and homes, and not just adorn walls. I’ve sold my art worldwide.

2. How did your interest grow in the field of art?
My art journey began when I was little, with sketching. Growing up my fascination for art grew further and I did it alongside my MBA education. Since I always knew that art was my calling, I decided to take the plunge and enrolled myself at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, an esteemed art school in Bangalore. Through this experience, I got a chance to practice a lot of mediums and understood my personal taste in art.

3. Who is your inspiration?
My biggest inspiration growing up was my mother, her paintings drew me closer to the magnificent world of art. Later on, I discovered and studied so many artists, a few of which like Van Gogh, Salvadore Dali, Jackson Pollock, Henrik Aau, and Phoebe Gander quickly became my favorites. Also, the sea has been a been a constant source of inspiration. It was while sitting by the shore, watching the waves, that I realized that my art had endless possibilities. This has a significant influence on my choice of colors and my style of art.

4. Which is your favorite art style?
I’m an inherent surrealist and working with Resin has become an integral part of me. The fluidity it has and the depth that I can achieve with it is nothing short of an addiction. I also enjoy painting with oils, pastels, graphite and charcoal every now and then.

5. What are your future plans?
I’m building a collection of furniture and larger pieces of paintings and art installations focusing on seascapes and I hope to expand that furthermore.

6. Any advice for budding artists?
The first and the most important piece of advice would be to spend more time on your art, practice and really build your technique. Having said that, distrust generalization of any rules to succeed in art, maybe even this one. What works for you may not for another. I go by my 3 C’s rule: be Creative, Confident and Consistent.

Rangkshetra: Artist of the day- Dheeraj Kumar

By | Superheroes with Ink, Uncategorized | One Comment

We are back with another artist another day, the Rangkshetra series holds a very special place in our heart, today we are featuring Dheeraj Kumar also called as D.K Boss he is a freelance writer and artist, he also creates his own comics.

So let’s hear it from D.K Boss!!

  1. Tell us something about yourself.

Myself Dheeraj Kumar also called as DK Boss. I’m a Lucknow (U.P.) based freelance artist and writer. I am a graduate of BFA and 3D Animation studies.

I’m mainly working in Comics with Designing and Animation fields along. I’m working as comicbook colorist from 2008 in Indian comics I started working for foreign comics from 2016. I’m currently working as Series Colorist for ‘Star’s End’ by Antarctic Press USA, with Guest Colorist on ‘Miss Mask’ by Antarctic Press as well. FireGirl Comics USA, Ravanayan 3,4,5 and HCE Showcase by HolyCow Entertainment, Parshu Mayhem by Orange Radius are some of my works as a colorist. I also worked as Writer on ‘Ghosts of India’ by Comics Theory.

I also do my own webcomics strip named ‘Jhoomritallaiyyaa’.

  1. How did your interest grow in the field of art?

– It’s from childhood, I was fortunate to get introduced to comics so early. Phantom, Flash – Gordan, DC, SpiderMan, Archies were the first ones. At that time it was the coolest thing for a kid, I had lots of comics. I used to copy their art. I exactly don’t remember when I started doing art but I soon realized I’m making better art than other kids. Then tv cartoons, video games etc made my interest more stronger in art. In teenage, I found myself more attracted to Commercial Art. I made up my mind for a career in Art Field in my Intermediate.

  1. Who is your inspiration?

–  My first inspiration is my Father, for the man he was and for his struggles. also when I get to knew that Tv Cartoons and Games are not made by machines or Computer but actual people do them, this really inspired me. Comics character Batman and actor Akshay Kumar have a very strong influence on me.

  1. Do you have any favorite art style? If yes, which?

– I avoid myself to follow any particular style because working as freelance artist demands variations/versatility. Still, I have a strong influence of great comics artist Manu ji (George Edison) in my anatomy style. I do follow Frank Cho for illustrations too. Stanley Lau (Artgerm) and Hyung Lee colors inspire me a lot.

  1. What are your future plans?

My own comics series definitely, I’m working on a few self comics projects.

  1. Any advice for budding artists?

– A great Portfolio. It’s very important. Don’t waste your time doing lots of fan arts and other similar kinds of stuff. Instead, create your own characters and story, no matter if it’s for comics, gaming or if it’s a movie idea, the idea is you keep growing and inventing your own world so that no one could be able to beat at your stuff. Just keep working on your stuff/style so when the opportunity hits you, you make sure to hit it back with a great impact.

Rangkshetra: Artist of the Day- Arpan Kumar.

By | Superheroes with Ink, Uncategorized | No Comments

Today, in the artist series we have an amazing artist who is moving into digital art, Arpan is a student from the Indian Institute of Science and Research and still practice his art in the busy schedule.

So let’s hear it from Arpan in his own words.

1.  Tell us something about yourself.

I am Arpan Kumar Nayak <aka “deWalkie”>, a student from IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) Pune, currently pursuing my 2nd year in an integrated BSMS course of 5 years which is oriented to scientific research. I am from Odisha, where I was born and brought up. I have been, in the literal sense, practicing the art of some of the other sort, before I actually began my formal studies. I have learned fine art for a couple of years and am quite into pastel work. I have worked with soft pastels and oil pastels, but prefer the latter. I do not use the brush as such, but if that’s the need of the hour, I got it all covered! In the past few years I have shifted my genre <actually several times> and started working on illusions, that work like 2D skewed projections of standing 3D objects and feel quite confident about it, I have also worked at large scales, say for making 3-4 ft long floor paintings, which result in larger 3D illusions <I got a life-size white tiger 3D illusion on my garage floor… XD>. Recently, what has caught up my interest is digital art. I have got a Huion h950 graphics pen tablet and I have learned to draw in Photoshop (have even tried my hand on realism). I have tried my hand in Adobe Animate (Flash basically) for 2D animation and Zbrush for sculpting. However, currently, I am working on modeling, texturing, rigging and animating stuff on blender which is a 3D animation software (FOSS). As a sideline, I also do casual sketches and direction and photography and also know the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing.

2. How did your interest grow in the field of art?

I might not have stepped into this pool of “ART” on my own (my parents thought putting to draw something would increase my concentration and stuff, I don’t know if that actually happened <seems like…>) but yes I gradually started liking it and I remember coping down stuff, preferably, cartoon and all, from TV shows, books and anything that was actually visually appealing for a kid. Later on, yes, the systematic approach of learning the finer entities, the challenging yet promising stuff that kept me involved, and now, I feel it’s the diversity that has always been so intriguing that it’s an integral part of life now!

3. Who is your inspiration?

Nature comes first, I would say. I do believe in God’s supremacy, at least in the sense that he/she knew what color he/she is using…; Say, the whole universe was made by a single being, that’s more inspiring than any other thing!! It’s so beautiful and appealing. And man has always tried to emulate such things, manipulate and produce stuff, trying to put down his imagination garnished by and I feel that’s what artists are…Beyond that, of course, there are many many people who have inspired me at many points of time and social media, has always been the catalyst!

4.  Do you have any favorite art style? If yes, which?

My favorite style in terms of classical art is Surrealism #SalvadorDaliFan. I do like Monet’s art style of Impressionism too. In the forms, that I have worked in, I just love Oil pastels as the medium and 3D modeling in terms of digital art, and I am attaching an image that I am currently, working on and is incomplete.

5.  What are your future plans?

My future plans so as to say, will be ending up as a scientist, since I am into Science…but yes, art and drawing and all… not giving up on it ! <Currently, I am like: give me a chance to learn and make stuff for games or maybe animation movies, I would run crazy XD>

6. Any advice for budding artists?

I don’t feel I am good enough for delivering an ‘advice’ as such, but a message that I feel good enough to share, will be that, never give up on art, may be of any form…you might not even consider your work under proper art, but hey, that’s what art is all about right… creativity and curiosity.

So, go, run like a wild horse, with your supplies and create a masterpiece… your own masterpiece !!

Superhero Of Startup: Edward and Vidur- Nectorr

By | Superheroes of Startups, Uncategorized | No Comments
Startup aims to solve the problem that are yet unsolved. They work day and night and give all the efforts to their work. Considering all the work a founder  does there is not contradiction in saying that they are no less than superheroes. So today in our Superhero of startup series we have Edward and Vidur from Nectorr.
Let’s hear it from them.

1. Tell us something about you and your startup.

We are nectorr.ai.  Nectorr is India’s first Robotic Process Automation (RPA) enterprise for Social Media. We use proprietary algorithms and complex technologies like AI, machine learning and neural networks to replicate the actions of a human being interacting with the social media platforms. Thereby easing up repetitive tasks of social media management.
Other than process automation it also creates knowledge based on social media data for automated decision making and creating tangible results.

2. What was your motivation behind venturing into this?

Social media is the best platform to reach out and engage users online. Like many others, we found the real task to be time-consuming, manpower intensive and the results were not up to our expectations. So we decided to change it for good.

3. Give us a brief background about founders and its core team members?

The founders are seasoned IT and software professionals with umpteen years of experience in delivering high end software to clients in the US, Europe and India. Nectorr is the brain child of Edward Varghese and a common passion for social media made Vidur Kohli jump on board to take the wheel.
Vidur Kohli is the CEO and co-founder of Nectorr. He is responsible for the company’s overall vision and strategy as well as day-to-day operations. is the CEO and co-founder of Nectorr. Prior to founding Nectorr, Vidur was part of the IBM India leadership team as the CTO for India and also spent several years as a senior leader with GE Capital in India.
Edward Varghese is the CTO and co-founder of nectorr. He crafted the idea of nectorr and is responsible company’s technology vision, strategy as well as day-to-day product enhancement and the product roadmap and branding. Edward has worked for brands such as GE and HCL and had a brief professional stint in the US.
He has been a part of the startup world for close to 10 years now and continues to grow stronger by creating what he likes and assisting others as well.

4. Who do you see as competition and how is your startup different?

1. Our span reaches 10 social media from a single window. Text, images, videos, blogs we can put it out there in a click or two.
 2. We do both organic and inorganic social media (wing-to-wing)
 3. Stronger and comparative analytics.
 4. Sleek and  better processes.
 5. Single place for software licenses or consulting for brands and micro-brands who prefer to focusing on their key abilities than social media.

5. What are the revenues and margins like in your industry?

At the moment a 20% PAT (Profit After taxes) is what we are optimistic about. The overall industry is well in billions of USD and is here to stay for a long time.

6. What are your future plans?

With beta-customers and the present release is looking much more promising that its competitors such as hootesuite.combuffer.com, we have an array of releases lined up for the near future with some power packed features.
On the business front, we intend to be fierce and aggressive in engaging brands and microbrands using ATL and TTL activities. Most of our branding and engagement activities shall be using our own tool. If all goes well as planned, we shall look at expanding to Europe and USA as well.

7. Any advice you want to give budding entrepreneurs.

No one becomes and entrepreneur to fail. Everyone wants success and success seems evasive. Budding entrepreneurs should be driven by the consumers and should adhere to the “5 Ps” which are crucial for success.

Passion: If you don’t have it, take a 9-5 job.”Tumse na ho payega!” 🙂
Patience: Keep in mind that the only one who does not make mistakes is GOD. The immortals, stumble, fall, get punched on the face and a lot more. Without patience you won’t loose PASSION, you shall strangulate and kill PASSION very soon.
Perseverance: Over 50% loose the taste in being an entrepreneur soon after the dip. The dip is when everything is headed south or downwards. No people, no money, no friends even the near and dear ones move a little away as you. Almost every one comes close to this. This is where you stick your hand out and say “I ain’t dead, still floating baby”. Here is where you gather the courage and ride the tide again.
Produce: This is what the consumer is dying to get. Steve Jobs did it, Mark Zuckerberg did it, so can you. This is what gets the moolah and this cannot be wrong.
Pride: This is something that shows others that you are proud about your team, customers, your work. Wear it everyday. This brings joy to within and outside the team.

Superhero Of Startup:Ashutosh & Ishan-Broomberg

By | Superheroes of Startups, Uncategorized | No Comments

A mind-blowing startup starts with a mind-blowing idea, no matter how simple it appears. Today in our series of Superhero Of Startup the superhero badge goes to team Broomberg, for their tremendous work.

1. Tell us something about you and your startup.

I am a Delhi University graduate and did my masters at the London School of Economics. I quit a lucrative consulting career at the Boston Consultancy Group to start this company with my childhood friend Ishan Baisoya.
Ishan was previously working with Investors Clinic, a real estate consultancy. His keen understanding of property and spaces has helped Broomberg devise astute cleaning modules and helped chart its operations and sales strategy.

2. What was your motivation behind venturing into this?

It all began with smoke (a lot of it)! A fire broke at my brother’s home and wrecked the place in August 2013. There was no professional help to clean up such a mess. Then and there, this idea was born. After discovering a business opportunity, I got along with Ishan my childhood friend to start a Professional Cleaning Company in Delhi-NCR  when the market for deep cleaning services practically did not exist.
We hired a small basement in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi which became our home for the next few months. Our close friends Bharat and Amit joined as Sales and Operations One Member Teams respectively. With no formal guidance, all of us followed a DIY learning approach and mastered the technique of deep cleaning all by themselves.

3. Give us a brief background about founders and its core team members?

The founding team were 3 individuals. I as mentioned was a consultant with BCG before starting up. The co founder is my close friend Ishan who was in the real estate business. He recruited our sales head Amit who was his colleague at Investors clinic. Bharat, our operations head was recruited by Ishan. He was a student at that time pursuing Law. Ashutosh, our Marketing head joined after a year. He was an MNC employee who had quit his job to study business.
Sugandha, who used to work for Ernst & Young as an auditor and Niel who was a sales executive at Express Car wash joined us soon after and are members of the core team.

4. Who do you see as competition and how is your startup different?

The home services market is pretty unorganized mostly with small players. We do not consider services aggregators as our competitors as we provide the final service and are not a marketplace so we work with them and not against them. We are different from small home service companies because we have the manpower to do all kinds if jobs big or small and since we have been in the market for more than 4 years we have much more experience.

5. What are the revenues and margins like in your industry?

We cannot disclose our revenue and margins.

6. What are your future plans?

We are looking at venturing into other cities and grow our service line incrementally. The company wants to add a product line for cleaning supplies in the near future.

7. Any advice you want to give budding entrepreneurs.

“Be super clear about the consumer issue that you want to solve. Articulate the problem very well before venturing into the solution formula”

Superhero Of Startup:Akshit-Rentezee

By | Superheroes of Startups, Uncategorized | No Comments

A startup involves a lot of passion, hard work and determination. We feel people working on a startup are no less than a superhero. So today in our series of Superhero of Startup the Superhero badge goes to team Rentezee.

  1. Tell us something about you and your startup.

Rentezee is an online community that enables Peer-to-Peer renting. Any individual, with their Facebook/Linkedin account and Aadhar ID verified, can rent out high quality idle assets to people who need them and start earning money as rent.

The seeders, or the ones renting out, decide the security amount and the rent they want to charge from the peers, or the ones taking on rent.

  1. What was your motivation behind venturing into this?

The rental market stands at $15Bn and peer-to-peer rental market at $9Bn, with a CAGR of 12%. There are over 400 million youngsters in the country. Smart phone access has grown to over 500 million. By 2021, India will have the largest population of millennials in the world. The rental market is at the cusp of an explosion and Rentezee aims to spearhead the rental revolution.

  1. Give us a brief background about founders and its core team members?

Akshit Kumar- CEO, IIT Roorkee, University of Sussex, Ex-Fitpass, Superman of the Team.

Jnanendra Veer, CTO, Ex-Fitpass, Tech Lead, Ironman of the Team.

Satyyam Srivastava, COO, Ex-Knowlarity, Ex-PlussApp, Batman of the Team.

  1. Who do you see as competition and how is your startup different?

We have created an asset-light renting ecosystem with a commission based business model. We do not own any of the products on our platform, rather we focus on completing a 360-degree renting cycle using idle assets in every home in the neighborhood.

What we do: Rentezee leverages latest technology (like blockchain) and product UI/UX (Social Media Interface) to solve problems in the renting ecosystem.

What we are not: A furniture or electronics rental shop with a website and app.

Differentiation Factors

Business Model:

We are a P2P marketplace, as compared to inventory based or O2O aggregator model. This model affords us the freedom to scale exponentially.

Instagram like UI gives renting a friendly and a familiar approach. This makes target customer education and acquisition that much faster.

Target Customer Market:

Young millennials who wish to earn quick money and make smart investments – The Snapchat Generation

Customer Delight:

We complete the 360-degree renting process with on-demand logistics and secure online payments.

Open Community:

One touch linking of social media accounts and Govt. UIDs to increase accountability and keep the platform transparent.

  1. What are the revenues and margins like in your industry?

Our Competitors manage their own inventory, so they overall costing is higher with a limited set of products on the listing.

Our monetization model is simple – we only charge a basic amount on the services we offer, that makes us operationally profitable in every transaction and Since we dont own anything, we have a huge product list which is being uploaded by the seeders.

From our Seeders, we charge 2% of the transaction amount as Service fee.

From Peers, we charge 10% of the transaction amount as Convenience Fee.

Minimal delivery charges applicable as per pickup-delivery distance between seeder and peer

  1. What are your future plans?

We have already launched our B2B arm; in the next 6 months, we will be exploring corporate alliances, especially with startups and SMEs, who are on the lookout to avoid blocking their capital on setup costs. Rentezee provides curated rental solutions for them.

Post our first round of funding next quarter, we will launch in a new city by mid-2018.

We are doubling down on digital advertising and user incentives to build our Seeder Count – the supply side of our marketplace.

By leveraging digital economy, latest fintech solutions and blockchain technology, we aim to make renting a 3-click process and grow 100X in GMRV by next year end.

  1. Any advice you want to give budding entrepreneurs.

The only Thing that Team Rentezee would suggest to the Budding Entrepreneurs is that make sure that you are solving a problem from the core ,do the execution part fast and Never fear of Failure as its just a phase.
